Tempo in music and the great power of slowing down

Classical Music has been a part of my life since early childhood. Discovering an old upright Piano in my Grandmother’s room helped form my future path in a musical career.
Playing since I was seven years old, I eventually went on to study Piano at the Brno Conservatory in the Czech Republic. I have studied under the fantastic Russian teacher Inna Aslamas. This helped me develop my playing skills and provided me with a very valuable and deeper understanding of music. I graduated in 2007, obtaining a diploma of music which qualifies me to teach professionally in Music Schools.
Being interested in the latest teaching methods, I also took a one year course in Current trends in piano pedagogy at the Educational-Methodical Center in Janacek Academy of music and Performing Arts. I took this course under the guidance of renowned Professor Alena Vlasáková, who introduced me to effective teaching and playing techniques.
Although I have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science & Librarianship, then a Master’s Degree in Service Science, Management and Engineering; teaching Piano has always remained one of my greatest lifelong pleasures.
I started teaching back in 2003 whilst studying at the Brno Conservatory of Music. I was a teaching assistant for children and students who needed help with preparation for their lessons, end of term concerts and exams.
With aim to extend my teaching experience, I started giving private lessons in 2005 by teaching children and adults. I also worked as a tutor for university students who needed help with music theory.
After moving to the UK in 2013 I spent a few years improving my English and learning the English for certain Music terminology. After gaining a proficient level of English I resumed teaching.
In January 2018 I became part of a great team at De Rosa Music. I have been teaching Piano to dozens of students of all age groups. All of my students currently hold a 100% pass rate undertaking music exams.
Lessons consist of clapping or singing rhymes, playing easy tunes and music theory introduction to develop their basic music skills. The usual length of the lesson is 20 minutes. This is a good time to start building and improving children’s concentration abilities. Lessons are elongated once children are ready.
The scheme of the lessons for young beginners is very similar to pre-school children depending on capabilities and playing level of each pupil. Pupils who have achieved a higher level musically may enjoy preparing for exams with renowned exam boards. The length of the lesson varies from 30 to 45 minutes.
Teenage players are usually divided in two groups – one is into playing Contemporary Music whilst the other is naturally following their current progress and are interested in taking higher grade exams. The recommended length of the lesson is 45 minutes.
Although I love teaching children and teenagers, I find adult players as the best learning group because they always come with a true desire to learn and play. Their great inner motivation and mature character helps to make the most of the lesson. The usual length of the lesson is 45 or 60 minutes

I am 26 years old and have recently got back into learning the piano. Initially I was concerned that my age may give an awkward air to the learning atmosphere but Anna is an excellent teacher and now a warm and jovial friend.
I started learning with Anna last November (2019) and since then have made astounding progress thanks to Anna’s help.
I am currently studying for a grade four exam and hope to continue studying higher grades in the future and with Anna leading the way I’m certain to knock it out of the park.
Not only does she make lessons enjoyable and interesting; she can tell by how I play exactly how much I’ve been practising and even how I chose to practise certain pieces. It’s extraordinary how well she can read me. I couldn’t recommend her any higher!
